Nacogdoches Police Report - 02/15/07

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE:  1700 block of Powers St.  Officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration. The driver was found to have an outstanding warrant for assault. Search incident to arrest revealed the suspect to be in possession of a small amount of suspected powdered cocaine. James Bernard Thacker was arrested.

THEFT:  3211 SW Stallings Dr. (Nacogdoches Animal Shelter)  Sometime around the first part of February, unknown suspects stole two pit bull dogs from the shelter.

IDENTITY THEFT:  312 W. MAIN St. (Nacogdoches Police Department)  Unknown suspect used complainant's identity to file an income tax return. The suspect then went to a bank and took out a loan and signed an agreement for the refund to be direct deposited.

EVADING ARREST / DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE:  2800 block of Hunter Rd.  While staged in the area where the probation department was serving a warrant, officers observed a vehicle leave the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled south on Press Road. The driver lost control at Wildhurst and came to rest in the roadway, without striking anything. The driver was found to have a suspended driver's license. Marcos Piña was arrested.

BURGLARY OF A HABITATION:  2800 block of Santa Fe Pl.  Complainant reported that a known suspect had forced his way into the residence and assaulted the complainant. Suspect was gone on arrival. A warrant has been requested.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE / UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A FELON:  1500 block of Virginia Ave.  Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Suspect was found in possession of a handgun. A search of his person revealed a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. Timothy Ike Quinn was arrested.
