The Democratic Party is suing the state's top election official over electronic voting machines. The company in question has a contract with Nacogdoches County. The federal suit alleges 'E-Slate', made by Hart Intercivic, does not properly record straight-party balloting. The company is not named as a defendant. Hart stands behind their product. A spokesperson with the Nacogdoches Country Elections Office said no problems at all were experienced with vote tallying. Electronic voting is credited to appealing to computer save voters, faster tallies, and cost efficiency.
