Azalea Trail is Now Open to the Public

Several weeks after a sewer spill in a Lufkin park, it is safe to enjoy the Azalea Trail again.

More than a 100,000 gallons of sewer water spilled into Hurricane Creek last month. Since then, city engineers have been replacing the pipe that collapsed, spilling sewer waste into the park.

Now that the work is complete, park visitors can once again enjoy the Azalea Trail.

Hurricane Creek is also clean and safe. The total cost of cleanup is estimated at less than $50, 000.
