A.C. Honored Its First Black Students

Angelina College was the first educational institution in Lufkin to integrate almost 40 years ago. Tuesday, the school honored two of its first black students.

The African American History Committee presented former A.C. trustee, Bonnie Denman, and L.I.S.D. board member, Larry Kegler, with an Outstanding Roadrunner award.

The awards are given to A.C. alumni who have gone on to accomplish greatness in their communities.

The committee also recognized former A.C. student, Marcus Wiley, for his achievements as a television producer.
