Angelina County and Cities Health District Director Terry Free spoke Wednesday about the importance of maintaining a clean environment. He says many people are guilty of doing things that violate environmental laws, for example: burning trash, illegally disposing of motor oil that gets into water sources, and abandoning junk cars.
Free says it is important to know the laws for one major reason. He said, "Because as our communities grow and houses continue to move in closer on each other, environmental concerns, public health safety, environmental safety is a great concern."
Free added that a new law was recently passed which gives the health district the authority to issue tickets to people who violate environmental laws.
