Fortunately, the fire was contained to just the one apartment and the resident was not home at the time. An upstairs neighbor actually discovered it. Carlton Fluellen witnessed the burning apartment saying, "...smelled something first and I went to the kitchen, seen smoke coming up from the cook stove, so I figured it might be a short coming from the stove so I went and cut off all the power, then kept smelling it so 9:35 I ran downstairs and looked at this apartment down here and seen the blinds melting, so I knew that apartment was on fire 9:41." Investigators say there were no injuries, but the fire did cause about five-thousand dollars worth of damages.
