A man confesses to sexually assaulting and killing an East Texas child.
It happened Sunday morning in the Panola county town of Carthage. Police say 27 year old Rogerio Garcia has confessed to sexually assaulting and strangling the little boy. City residents have built a make shift memorial for little Joey Zhang-Liu.
His family owned his Chinese restaurant in Carthage where residents say the boy was always glad to greet customers. Police say the suspect lived with and worked for the family in their Chinese restaurant. Investigators say the victim had a broken arm, contusions around his throat and apparently was sexually molested. The boy, who was found in his bedroom, was declared dead at a hospital.
A memorial is growing outside of the Chengs Restaurant where customers say the little four year old boy would be playing.
Liketia Harris, a customer at the restaurant said, "He was just joyful, always playing, every time I would come in, he'd grab my leg and would just hug me. He was real nice and sweet. Dana Bass, who works next door to the restaurant said, "I just came to bring flowers because these are really nice people. I just feel for the family."
Funeral arrangements have not been released for little Joey.
