Bus Road-e-o

by Josh Ault

When you think of the rodeo, you usually do not think about big yellow school buses.  Today at Nacogdoches High School the Road-e-o was all about the buses.

About 20 bus drivers, from Longview to Lufkin, came to compete at the 2007 State School Bus Safety Road-e-o.  Their main mission was perfection.  A course was constructed in the parking lot behind the football field.  Each driver had to complete several driving test and be judged.

The top two drivers from each division will go to Waco, TX to compete in the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation State Road-e-o.  If a driver places 1st or 2nd at state then they are eligible to drive in the national school bus road-e-o.

Loucinda Frater, a bus trainer from Tyler, said, "The top thing they can get here is knowledge."

The top driver for the conventional bus was Michael Davis of Nacogdoches.
