When the brothers of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at Stephen F. Austin State University found out one of their own was effected by cancer, they knew they needed to do something. The fraternity put together a 48 hour fast to raise money for Morgan Sheppard, a fraternity member whose dad is battling cancer.
"It kinda shocked me. I was sitting outside the ICU with my dad when he got our of surgery when our Vice President called, and said he and the brothers were getting together to do this benefit. I really touched me. I broke down in tears," said Sheppard.
The fraternity is also giving a portion of the money raised to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. They have set up camp on Griffith Boulevard across from Kerr and Griffith Halls.
