Teen Sentenced in Rape Case

An East Texas high school senior accused of raping an eighth-grade girl has entered a guilty plea.

A judge sentenced Alexander Pennington to ten years probation and 30 days in jail. He will begin serving his jail time after graduating from high school this summer.

Pennington also has to complete 240 hours community service and sex offender counseling, though he will not have to register as a sex offender.

The judge also ordered the Groveton football player to pay his victim $600.

Pennington pleaded guilty to injury to a child. If he violates his probation, he'll be sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Pennington and two juveniles were accused of breaking into the boys' field house in Groveton after hours last year and raping a 13-year-old girl.
