Residents Will Vote on Road Tax

Some East Texas residents will be voting on a proposed road tax for their county.

Polk County leaders said they have more roads than they have funding, so voters will have a chance to vote on a five cent sales tax per $100 valuation.

If approved, that money will be divided among Polk County's four commissioners for the sole purpose of improving the roads in their precinct.

The amount spent on county roads cannot be increased without voter approval. The Five Cent Road Tax vote will happen May 12th in Polk County.
