Captain Ed Ivy

The Nacogdoches Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.

Captain Ed Ivy, a 33-year veteran, died Saturday from a possible heart attack. His funeral was held at 2 p.m. today at Fredonia Hill Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.  Over 15 different fire departments from across the state came to honor their hero.

Ed was described as one of a kind.  Captain Del Birdwell said, "He was always a ball of fire."  Fire Chief Keith Kiplinger said, "For 33 years, Eddie Ivy did heroic things with people of this community, he's a hero. . .a real one."

Tears were shed today, but the legacy of Captain Ed Ivy will continue to make the Nacogdoches Fire Department one of the best in the world.
