Funeral services for Corbet Elbert Allen, 80, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church with Reverend Daniel Norman, Reverend Joel Nabors and Reverend Bobby Whisenant officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Allen was born November 8, 1926 in the Allentown Community, Angelina County, Texas, to Dovie Faye (Thompson) and James Byron Allen, and died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at his residence.

Mr. Allen was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from Champion Paper Mill in 1987, following 44 years of service as a welder. He was a member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, Delight Allen of Lufkin; son, Johnny Wayne Allen of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, David Keith and Darlene Allen of Lufkin; son, Jerry Gene Allen of Tyler; daughter and son-in-law, Paula Ann and John David Bailey of Lufkin; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Teri and Jon Watson; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Tamesha Forrest and Darel and Crystal Forrest; grandchildren, Rob Allen, Destiny Allen Langham, Leslie Allen Day, Amanda Bailey, Jennifer Allen Bullwinkle, Allison Bailey, Brett Bailey, Heather Forrest, Joshua Watson, Caleb Forrest, Erin Watson, Jeri Allen Chenowith, Emily Allen Chenowith and Samuel Forrest; great-grandson, Ian Scott Langham; brothers, Billy Allen of Houston and Jack Allen of Lufkin; sisters, Betty Rice of Lufkin and Linda Walker of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Thurman Allen in 1978; mother, Dovie Faye Allen in 1988; and father, James Byron Allen in 1994.

Pallbearers will be Jim Allen, Wayne Rice, Kris Whisenant, Drew Whisenant, Duane Freeman and Jason Stuck.

Honorary pallbearer will be Bart Allen.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 S. Raguet St., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Woodland Heights 3rd  floor nursing staff, the Woodland Heights Wound Care Center, and Hospice in the Pines.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
