Another Victory for the Texas State Railroad

More good news for the Texas State Railroad. One hundred forty state lawmakers voted to save the historic train in Cherokee and Anderson counties. Only five voted against keeping the railroad up and running.

The House's decision Thursday okays the creation of the Railroad Authority, which will now wait for $12 million in state funding to fix the railroad.

The bill will now go to the senate again for concurrence, then on to Governor Perry. Governor Perry is expected to sign the bill which would allow a private company to take over the train.
