Lufkin Police Report - 05/17/07

ASSAULT:  1600 block of Wood.  A woman reported that she was touched and fondled in an offensive manner by a known male suspect.

THEFT:  4000 block of North Medford Dr.  A man reported that a female snatched his wallet and fled on foot late Wednesday night.  The victim said he was approached by a woman asking for gas money and she snatched his wallet when he pulled it out to give her some cash.

FORGERY/COUNTERFEITING:  4300 block of South First.  A Louisiana woman reported that an unknown person has charged over $600 on her debit card at a Lufkin motel.  The victim hasn't been to Lufkin and only discovered the unauthorized use of her debit card when she reviewed her bank statement.

THEFT:   700 block of South Timberland.  A man left the dollar store with a shopping cart full of merchandise without paying Wednesday afternoon.  The man fled on foot when confronted by store personnel, taking several bags of clothing and other unknown merchandise with him.  

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:  2300 block of Hanks.  The rear window was broken out a car by unknown means sometime during the day Wednesday.  

THEFT:  200 block of South First.  A man reported that someone used his debit card without his consent to withdraw money from his bank account earlier in the week.

THEFT: 1800 block of Frank.  An employee was seen stealing money from the cash register over the past few days.  Management noticed the register had come up short and saw the suspect taking money when they reviewed surveillance tapes.

 WEAPONS/FIREARMS VIOLATION:  Chestnut.  While investigating a traffic accident Wednesday morning, a police officer found a firearm in the vehicle driven by a convicted felon.  The gun was taken as evidence and the driver was not arrested at the time due to injuries received in the accident.  Charges are pending.
