Texas Lawmakers

It's all over but the shouting. The regular session of the Legislature adjourned last night after weeks of turmoil and rebellion against Republican House Speaker Tom

Craddick. The House went until last night's midnight deadline in the 140-day session after a last-ditch round of tense debate over water, border security and electric deregulation. Craddick finished the session as the man in charge of the House.The Senate adjourned earlier in the evening. Watch KTRE's East Texas News to hear about some of the major bills that passed and their local impact, including one of the toughest bills on high school steroid testing.

Weekend Boating Accident

An East Texas teenager is in stable condition after her leg is severed in a weekend accident. The 16-year old girl was on Lake Sam Rayburn when she was struck by a boat. The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's department arrested Charles Clayton Gilstrap and charged him with intoxicated assault. He has bonded out of jail over the weekend.

Near-Drowning

A scare at an East Texas lake leaves a two year old boy in the hospital. Authorities say two year old Trevino Enrique was with his parents and grandmother on Lake Gladewater Monday when he wandered off and went underwater. Witnesses say he was under water for around ten minutes before being pulled out and given C-P-R. He was taken by helicopter to a Tyler hospital. Hospital officials say he is in good condition.
