New Lumberjacks

A new class of Lumberjacks was welcomed to SFA today.  This afternoon was the first of five freshman orientations for the class of 2011.

The day consisted of advising, testing and learning the history and culture of SFA.  The orientation program lasts two and a half days and gives the parents and students a taste of what college life will be like.  "Parents and students are going to informative sessions on campus life, organizations on campus, orientation and just anything about the university," said Gabriela Rodriguez, student coordinator.

This orientation session brought in around 1000 students and family members.  All of the students just seemed eager to start class in the fall.  New freshman, Jessica Flores said, "I can't wait to meet new people and really experience college life."  The rest of the orientation sessions will go on throughout the summer.
