Thousands of Pentecostals Headed to East Texas

Several thousand Pentecostals are headed to East Texas. They will be spending time in Lufkin attending their annual district meeting. More than 6,000 people attend the conference each year.

Church services, children's activities and praise and worship events are taking place all week at the Pentecostal campground on Highway 59 South. Families who participate every year tell us the experience renews their spirit and brings them closer to God.

Datha and Kenneth Alexander of Waxahachie said, "We enjoy the fellowship of all of our friends and getting together, and also enjoy coming and receiving something from the Lord. The sermons are just awesome. The presence of the Lord is awesome."

Lufkin police officers will be out Thursday night and Friday night directing traffic from FM 819 onto Highway 59. Drivers are encouraged to avoid that area beginning around 8:30 p.m. on both nights.
