Three counties could be losing their Farm Service Agency local offices. The Texas Farm Service Agency has proposed to close the local offices in Trinity, Angelina and Shelby counties. The office in Nacogdoches county would be come the only office in the area.
Many residents worry there is going to be an overload with just one office controlling many counties. The main concern for residents is the distance they will have to travel to apply for a new loan or to get service on an existing account.
Meetings have already been held in Shelby and Angelina counties to discuss the issue. Throughout the next week and a half public meetings will also be held in Panola County, Van Zandt County, Kimble County, Sutton County, Crocket County, Presidio County, Kent County, and Menard County.
