Freedom Fighters: Doug Tanner

The 740th Tank Division during World War II was made up mostly of young men from Texas and Oklahoma. Doug Tanner was one of these "Daredevil Tankers", as they were called. He fought in three major battles in Europe including the Battle of The Bulge. It was the coldest winter Europe had known and losses were heavy on all sides.

Eight years ago, Tanner returned to Belgium, along with other members of the 740th, for the dedication of a memorial built by the Belgium people. It was a thanks to the Tankers for freeing them from German tyranny.
