In a world where money talks and glitz and glamour rule, movie stars, pro athletes, musicians, and yes, even heiresses stand on a pedestal above those who work every day to make a difference.
Paris Hilton is just the most recent rich and famous person to enter a court of law because she thinks she is above the law. Is she the type of person we want our kids to look up to?
Just because somebody is a movie star or an athlete does not mean they deserve to be idolized. Fame and money cannot buy good character. That has to be earned.
Children are constantly looking for role models, but they should not have to look beyond home. Strong parents can make strong role models, and a child who grows up in a nurturing environment will learn far more at home than on any stage or playing field. Get involved in your children's lives, and maybe one day you will hear, "I want to be just like you when I grow up!"
