Atlantis Back Home on Earth

The space shuttle Atlantis has landed at California's Edwards Air Force Base, after a two-week mission to the international space station.

NASA decided to use the backup landing after a second day of rainy and cloudy weather prevented a Florida touchdown.

Mission Control told the seven astronauts that it "couldn't quite get comfortable" with conditions in Florida.

The shuttle's mission was extended by two days so astronauts could repair a thermal blanket that peeled away during launch.
