It appears the Lufkin Panthers are in good hands with another Claybon. Jeremy Claybon's little brother Jeffrey played big in the 7 on 7 state qualifier Saturday.
Claybon led the Panthers to three wins, and a berth in the state tournament. The Panthers beat Lumberton in the semifinals 35 to 24, to advance to the final. That win automatically qualified them for state.
No championship game was played. Winning three straight was not easy for the Pack, who slipped past Nacogdoches by one. Lufkin then rallied to beat South Houston 41 to 31.
