Strong Wind Knocks Down Tree, Takes Power Lines With It

A large tree has blown over due to high winds on Mound Street at Hughes.  This tree struck power lines on Mound, and has caused extensive damage to the lines in that area.

Mound Street is currently blocked from north of Ochiltree Street, to south of Hughes.  King, Raguet, and Houston Streets are partially blocked due to downed power lines and poles.

Power outages have caused failure of traffic signals in several areas in the central Nacogdoches area.  Hospital street traffic lights are out, North Street at King and Powers Streets, University Drive and Park areas, and Powers at Pearl Street traffic signals are also disabled.

City of Nacogdoches and TXDOT workers are working at this time to fix the problems.
