Long Time Resident Killed In Accident

A long time Nacogdoches resident died Friday morning in a head on collision. The person in the other car was a good friend. Friends and family of Flossie Drewery, 84, will remember her as driving around town in her car helping the unfortunate, and checking on rental properties every Friday. It's in that car, a Toyota Corolla in which she lost her life.  The accident happened in the 4800 block of South Street. A late model GMC Envoy, driven by Stephen Randolph was northbound on us 59 and apparently crossed the center lane into the southbound lane that drewery was traveling. The elderly woman was died at the scene. Randolph was treated and released from a Nacogdoches hospital.

The large Drewery family quickly gathered after the accident, calling it a terrible accident.   Keith Drewery, a nephew said, " We all go to church together.  The young man is friends of our family and real close to my Aunt Flossie and Uncle Travis. They all were close and year before last they took him to Colorado deer hunting, so you know everybody was real close. It is just a sad thing it happened. "

Drewery was the matriarch of the family. Her granddaughter, Amber said, " Everybody she met she impacted them. I just don't even know. There's nothing to describe her. She was wonderful." Amber is attempting to get her husband home from Iraq for the funeral.   Laird funeral home is handling arrangements.
