Lufkin Bank Robbery

Two armed robbers strike a Lufkin bank in broad daylight. They are now the focus of an intense search headed by Lufkin Police and the FBI Police say they responded to a bank robbery call about 11:26 this morning at the Bank of America branch on west Loop 287.

Witnesses say two black men with chrome colored pistols entered the bank and demanded money. The men fled in a Chevy truck. Police later found the vehicle abandoned in the Gaslight Plaza area. Police said the robbers swapped the truck for a van.  The van was reported stolen from the First United Pentecostal Church in Lufkin. They then headed to the Fox Run Apartments where they left in yet another vehicle. It is unknown which direction they went in from there.

At this time authorities believe a third person may be involved.  Identities of the suspects is still unknown.  FBI and LPD are looking to see if other similar crimes around East Texas are linked to these robbers.

Police say the suspects are armed and dangerous. If you have any information on this robbery, contact Crime Stoppers at 936-639-TIPS. You can also contact the local FBI office at 936-637-3835.  Police have released photos from the bank surveillance video that shows two armed suspects.
