War Veteran Hearing

An Iraqi War veteran's hearing was held at the Federal Courthouse in Lufkin. Officials say Sgt. Paul Miles is charged with two counts of possession of an unregistered firearm.

Authorities found two small bombs in Miles' Nacogdoches apartment last year. Miles faces up to ten years in prison. Doctors say miles is bipolar and suffers from post traumatic stress disorder. Miles' family members and friends believe he needs medical treatment, not prison time.

"I'd like to see Paul get medical treatment rather than go to prison. I think that's been shown to be a real effective way of handling people that have mental problems," said Sgt. Miles' father, Curtis Miles.
