Lufkin residents now have a new pool to swim in. The Boys and Girls Club of Deep East Texas had a ribbon cutting ceremony today before the pool opened to the public for the first time. It may even house the Lufkin Panther swim meets. Funding for the new facility was raised through grants, private donors and businesses within the area. Each lane of the lap pool was sponsored as well. The project has been ongoing since 2001 and now that it's finished will offer a safe place for everyone to enjoy. The pool opened to the public at noon today after the ceremony was over. Residents were already there to enjoy their new swimming hole.
