'Rollover Convincer' Convinces Students to Buckle Up

Some East Texas kids now know what it's like to get into a rollover wreck without being buckled up. The Texas Department of Transportation Thursday invited the students to a 'rollover convincer'. The device simulated what happens to passengers in a car crash when they are not wearing their seatbelts.

The students also attended presentations from TxDot officials and Department of Public Safety authorities about environmental safety, bicycle safety and traffic hazards.

Tammy Oliver said, "They have seen some signs made and looked at some of the sizes and the colors of the different signs and what they mean. Environmental has done a presentation about endangered animals."

The event was held in conjunction with Take Your Kids to Work Day. About 30 kids from all over Angelina County showed up for the rollover convincer and several other activities at TxDot.
