Police Investigate Two Late-Night Stabbings

A Lufkin woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend during a fight is now charged with aggravated assault. Police arrested Hartie Rose around 1:45 a.m. Friday at Creekside Apartments on Sayers Street.

Hartie reportedly came home and started arguing with her boyfriend. She allegedly stabbed him in the arm with either an eggbeater or a knife, causing a serious wound. The victim is expected to be okay.

Police are also looking into an unrelated stabbing that happened just 15 minutes earlier in Lufkin. Authorities said a man riding a bicycle showed up at Petty's Motel around 1:30 a.m. Friday with a stab wound to the chest. He had been fighting with a man on Booker Street before the suspect stabbed him in the chest with a screwdriver.

Detectives interviewed that suspect. He has not been arrested. The stab victim suffered a collapsed lung and is recovering in a hospital.
