A man suspected of sexually assaulting a Shelby county child has been arrested.
Thirty-one year old Gary Miller was arrested in Jasper county just after midnight. He is believed to have swallowed an unknown amount of cocaine. Investigators are speculating it was an attempt to hide evidence. Miller was taken to the emergency room because he was having trouble breathing. He stayed in I-C-U overnight Thursday. This morning he is recovering and is expected to be released from the hospital back into police custody.
Additional felony drug charges may be filed against Miller by Jasper county law officers.
In the meantime, arrangements are being made to have Miller transported back to Shelby county to face charges of sexual assault of a child. Officials found Miller at a friend's home in Jasper county. Authorities say he had been there since Monday.
