Former S.F.A. Lumberjack Chad Stanley is the only punter in the history of the Houston Texans. Stanley didn't know if he'd be back this season.
"I wanted to be back," Stanley says. "I wasn't sure how it was going to work out."
A deal was worked out. Stanley and his right foot were signed to a new contract. The first man of punting in Houston was staying home. But no one is safe in the N.F.L. where there's little loyalty. Before training camp the Texans added thirteen year punter Matt Turk. Turk had better punting numbers then Stanley last season for the Rams.
With his job on the line, Stanley isn't going to panic. He says it only help him.
"I think having Matt (Turk) will help us sharpen our skills," Stanley says. "I'm always up for a good challenge. We'll have fun, go at each other and may the best man win."
