Global warming has become a hot topic in recent years, especially in the field of meteorology. I am always asked, as a meteorologist, if I believe in global warming. What is my answer? Yes and no. I do believe that the temperature of the Earth has risen slightly over the last 100 years. What I do not believe is that it is largely caused by humans.
People like Al Gore point the blame on humans putting too much Carbon dioxide in the air with our cars, factories, and power plants. However, here is something you might not realize. Carbon Dioxide only makes up .045% of all gases in the atmosphere. How can that small amount cause such a large change?
A different theory suggests another cause for varying temperatures on Earth. What causes temperatures to rise on a daily basis? Of course it is the sun. It makes more sense to look at solar activity rather than carbon dioxide for the main cause of global warming.
I encourage you to do some research on global warming and listen to both sides of the issue. The better educated we are, the better off we will be.
