Third Criminal Trial for Deputy Canceled

Official oppression charges against a former Trinity County Deputy Constable have been dismissed. Just as his third trial was set to begin, Marshall Scott Taylor reached an agreement with the district attorney in Trinity County.

Taylor reportedly beat an inmate severely while working at the sheriff's office. Under the agreement, he had to resign from his position with Trinity County and he can never again work as a law enforcement officer in Trinity, Polk and San Jacinto counties.

Taylor's first trial ended with a hung jury. The second trial ended in a mistrial. His third trial was set for last week.
