Rusk State Railroad Closed for Repairs

The Texas State Railroad is waiting for repairs before reopening to the public. Heavy rains and flooding in July caused washouts in six areas of the railroad. Texas Parks and Wildlife has already allotted more than $645,000 to renovate the historic train.

The tourist attraction shut down last month after the Neches River flooded. The Rail Authority is in the process of finalizing its contract to allow a private contractor to take over the railroad, keeping it from becoming a museum.
