The S.F.A. Lumberjacks were shorthanded headed to Fargo to face 4th ranked North Dakota State. The 'Jacks were without there top three running backs. S.F.A. still rushed for over 100 against the Bison, but they couldn't stop the run.
North Dakota State ran wild over 'Jacks rushing for 350 yards in a 28 to 19 win. The Bison scored two quick touchdowns in the first quarter thanks to the ground. After taking a 14 to 7 lead, they started to throw. That allowed S.F.A. back in the game. The Jacks picked off three Steve Walker passes in the first half. All three led to field goals.
Danny Southall threw a 64 yard touchdown strike to Aaron Rhea and S.F.A. lead at the half 16 to 14. S.F.A. could manage just a field goal in the second half. Southall had 196 yards passing and 82 rushing.
The 'Jacks couldn't sustain a consistent running game with Louie Runnels or Vincent Pervis. The defense sorely missed linebacker Damion Perkins as the Bison accounted for nearly 600 yards of total offense. Now the 'Jacks get a much needed week off. S.F.A. will host Western Illinois September 22nd.
