Boat Battle Headed to Court

After Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005, several East Texas boat companies pitched in to deliver boats to New Orleans storm victims. Now, Big Boat Movers of Huntington has filed a lawsuit against Callahan Marine of Lufkin over how much the equipment was worth.

Big Boats is accusing Callahan of inflating invoices to get more money, while Callahan is accusing Big Boats of trying to cheat the company out of the full amount due.

Callahan is also accusing the owner of Big Boats, who happens to be a Lufkin attorney, of misrepresenting himself as a FEMA employee and getting more than a $100,000 from the agency. But the attorney said Callahan is blackmailing his company by filing a false police report, alleging Big Boat refused to pay for the equipment.
