Benefit Held for Jonathan Carrington

A benefit was held in Lufkin Friday on behalf of Jonathan Carrington. Everything collected during the fundraiser will pay for the ten-year-old's mounting medical needs.

Jonathan has survived three brain aneurysms and requires home health care at least 80 hours a week. Medicaid stopped providing Jonathan with medical care, and now Jonathan's mom is struggling to take care of him.

Tammy Carrington said, "He has to travel to Florida twice a year to see some specialists there and it costs a good deal of money to be able to see some of his specialists - it can be $3,000 a week for one specialist. He has a vision specialist there and then the cost of travel."

Outback Steakhouse in Lufkin was only open for lunch Friday. All the money raised during the four-hour benefit will go toward's Jonathan's medical needs. He recently laughed out loud for the first time in his entire life, something doctors said he would never do.
