An all but non-existant offense and a pourous defense had SFA reeling all afternoon as they were blanked by the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State 45-0.
SFA could only manage 219 yards of total offense, 109 on the ground and 110 through the air, and could only pick up 12 first downs, while the 'Jacks defense allowed 364 yards to the 'Rabbits.
Louie Runnels led the way on the ground picking up 37 yards, but it took 19 carries to do so. Former Alto star Johnny Thacker had 29 yards on six carries.
Former Lufkin star quarterback Jeremy Claybon made his college debut today, finishing 4-8 for 16 yards and two interceptions. For the game, the 'Jacks quarterbacks threw five interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns.
SFA trailed 21-0 at the half, before getting outscored 24-0 in the second.
Last season, SFA started 0-5 before winning their first game, a road game, at Texas State. This year, the 'Jacks will open their Southland schedule next week, on the road, at Southeastern Louisiana.
