There is no down year for the Rice Owls baseball team. They just keep reloading. Most of that talent comes from within the state. Rice is now looking into East Texas.
Pitcher Trey Haley has committed to pitch for the Owls. Haley had been at San Augustine, but will spend his senior year pitching for Central Heights.
Haley throws up to 95 miles an hour and had to choose between Rice, Texas, Arizona, L.S.U. and Baylor.
"It was a pretty hard commitment," Haley says. "But I found out that Rice was the place for me. It fit my personality. I realized that I'll have a good chance to go to the College World Series and the atmosphere and everything is just great."
Haley will officially sign with Rice in November.
