Over the last two weeks East Texans began to cast their votes. Some are waiting until election day. One resident says that's fine, as long as they do it. "It's what's made this country what it is today. People get out and assert their right to vote," Fred Robbins said.
Some people seem to be at odds about how to vote though. Touchy subjects such as alcohol sales are once again on the ballot. Some residents say the alcohol has only brought bad things to the area but others think the issue should be over. "I think it's kind of ridiculous to vote again because then after that they'll vote again. And, if people are going to drink they're going to get it somewhere," Cheryl Teutsch told KTRE.
Other issues such as emergency services districts, sales taxes and rollback elections are on the ballots of east Texas. Some schools are also hoping local residents will back them up. They're looking for funding to make east Texas schools a better place. "The teachers work hard and they need to have more money to help them support education in this town," Teutsch said.
