State adoption workers are asking that you consider adopting an older child. They want you to view some eye catching portraits of older children needing a permanent home. The display is called the Southeast Texas Heart Gallery. The traveling adoption show compliments another adoption campaign called, 'Why Not Me?'.
The display of a lobby full of portraits was in Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital on Tuesday. On Thursday they'll be moved to a gallery 116 South First Lufkin. The idea is encourage people to adopt one or more of the 145 older foster children in Southeast Texas needing parents. Adoption specialist Terri Keith said, " There are lots and lots of really nice children out there that are just waiting for a family of their own and this heart gallery is to raise awareness so that they think about adoption in a broader sense. "
Wednesday is also Adoption Day in Angelina County. Numerous children will be adopted in a group ceremony, with a party afterwards. To find out more about adoption, celebrate with them at the Angelina County Court House from 9 a.m. To noon.
