Nacogdoches County Adopting Policies

Nepotism, funeral and emergency leave were new policies introduced by County Commissioner Reggie Cotton. And soon spending decisions may be added. In an effort to keep a tight rein on unnecessary spending, Nacogdoches County Judge Joe English has suggested such a change.

Constable David Adams was in the hot seat over his decision to purchase a bed liner for his pickup. The purchase was perfectly legal, but some commissioners question its need. Soon a new policy will be proposed to require such purchases to have court approval. Judge English said,   " I try to do good diligence and the best way I could was try to implement some polices in this county and that's what we've done today in preceding line items. This is a start in trying to adopt some valid policies. "   Despite questions over his purchase, Adams was complimented by several commissioners and Judge Dorothy Tigner Thompson for his service to the county.
