Here's a warning to parents. Some children are purposely creating an open sore on their body, rubbing against another child who has done the same thing and calling it a sign of true friendship. But what it's really doing is opening the door for the spread of serious blood diseases. About twenty fifth graders at Fredonia Elementary in Nacogdoches did it while in the bus line. They took an eraser, scrubbed their hands until blood was drawn. Then each child would touch their open wounds with one another. Some people are calling 'scrubbing' a new fad, but there are adults who can remember something similar that they did as a child. Nevertheless, parents are advised to talk with their child and inform them about the health risks.
