Henry Gibson, 89, of Lufkin, was born October 21, 1918, in Trinity County, Texas, the son of the late Lavada (Pyle) and William Homer Gibson. He passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, in a Lufkin nursing facility.
Mr. Gibson was a retired welder for Lufkin Industries, following 38 years of service. He attended school in Ratcliff, and had resided in Lufkin most of his life. Mr. Gibson was a member of Keltys First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Mae Gibson of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Oscar Hightower of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Brenda Gibson of Lufkin; four granddaughters, Nancy Hightower, Adrianne Womack, Emily Smith and Hayley Gibson; two great grandsons, Grant Hightower and Kaden Womack; brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Velma Gibson of Wells; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Mr. Gibson in death were his grandson, Richard Lee Hightower, and brothers, Gordon Gibson, Borden Gibson and Jack Gibson.
Pallbearers will be Grant Hightower, Chad Smith, Josh Womack, David Hebert, Eddie Redd, Mike Eaves and Jason Fatheree.
Services for Mr. Gibson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Eddie Ballard officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
