A Timpson woman died early this morning after her car struck an 18 wheeler. It happened on 59 north just south of FM 2435. Just before 6 this morning the freightliner was traveling south on 59 when the driver, David Alexander of Nacogdoches, struck a deer and went into the northbound lanes. Charlene Smelley, 64, of Timpson, was northbound and crashed into the truck. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Troopers say it was raining and the roads were wet. Smelley was not wearing her seatbelt.
