Last year it was too easy. The Alto Yellowjackets rolled to a second round 50-7 victory over the Groveton Indians on their way to a state title. Friday marks the one year reunion for the teams as they prepare to face off once again.
"It's a situation that I feel like we can go line up with them this year and have a chance to beat them," Groveton Head Coach Keith Thomas says. "Where as last year they (Alto) were so dominating for the whole year"
The Indians come off a regular season where they rallied after a 1-2 start, to finish with seven straight victories and a district title.
Alto continued it's dominance with a virtually unchallenged regular season. The Yellowjackets finished 10-and-0. .
"Our kids are playing well," Alto Head Coach Keith Gardner says. "We are able to move the ball on offense, playing pretty good defense and pretty good special teams. We are happy with where we are at at this point, but we do want to continue to get better."
The rematch is set for 7:30 on Saturday night from Abe Martin Stadium.
