Class 1A- Division I Semi-Finals
It took less than a minute for the Alto Yellowjackets to announce their presence with authority. Granger could never recover. On their second play of the game, 'Jackets QB Tarlandus Mitchell found Brandon Thacker for an 88 yard touchdown pass, effectively ending the game for Granger, and vaulting Alto into their second straight championship game.
Mitchell would strike again later through the air, when, on third down and long, he found DeMarcus Griffin for a 45 yard strike to convert. Only three plays later, DeMarcus Tyler, who for the most part of the year was on JV, scampered in from 19 yards out to put Alto up 13-0.
Granger made it close on a 19 yard touchdown run, but it only seemed to make Alto mad.
Alto marched down and scored on their next drive on a 1-yard run by Mitchell, Alto would convert the two point conversion when Mitchell found Lance Low in the corner for the score.
Then the backbreaker. After a quick three-and-out by the Lions, Alto regained possesion at mid-field with just over 90 seconds left in the half, five plays later, Mitchell found paydirt from 35 yards out, Alto was up 28-7 at the half and ran killed the clock in the second, to win it 35-9.
