Proud Of East Texas: William Young

Just outside the city limits of Palestine is the art studio where renown artist Ancel Nunn painted some of his most famous paintings.  Now Nunn's son, William Young paints in the same studio.

Estranged from his father as a child after his parent's divorce, Young didn't began painting until a visit with his father when he was 18, although he had long sketched and was trained in printmaking.

There are many similarities in the father and son's paintings, although each has his own style. Nunn's inspiration was in philosophy, while Young' combines the practical with imagination. William Young's paintings will be on display during December as part of Palestine's "Embrace The Arts" program.  They are at the Museum For East Texas Culture at Reagan Park, 400 Micheaux Avenue, Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
