Murder Trial Begins

A murder trial for a cold case that happened in 1999 began Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the Angelina County courthouse in lufkin.

Rodney Cearley of Lufkin was indicted last year after an 18 month investigation by the Texas Rangers. Police say Michael Grimes of Nacogdoches was last seen alive in Angelina County in January 1999. At the time of Cearley's arrest, Angelina County Sheriff's Office officials suspected him of murdering Grimes after an alleged fight between the two men. Neither Grimes's body nor a murder weapon have been found. The trial continues tommorow morning.
